About the Role:

Laura Christie at CK Clinical is currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Data Science Solutions to join a top 5 Pharmaceutical company on a permanent basis in the UK or Sweden. The position is office based and includes an excellent salary plus benefits and full relocation.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver an overarching strategy for data mining and machine learning, as relevant for Global Medicines Development (GMD) – both for clinical and operational/business data

• Construct and deploy a flexible working model for the development, productionising and maintenance of new analytical tools, such as statistical packages in R

• Assess, select and work with external and internal providers to support the above goals

• Provide inspirational leadership to a team of data scientists at a variety of career levels

• Act as key expert, leader and spokesperson for data science in GMD

• Work with the Head of the AAC on overall analytics & data science strategy, and provide the AAC leadership team with specific expertise and advice regarding the latest and most innovative approaches to data science and related technologies

• Achieve the most effective development of the Data Science Solutions skill & staff, including recruitment and personal development planning

• Take on new challenging assignments on behalf of the Advanced Analytics Centre, as new scientific requirements arise (e.g. recent example is the clinical analytics strategy for genomics)

Key Requirements

• MSc or PhD statistics, mathematics, informatics, computer science, the physical sciences or related subject

• Specific experience of applying data mining and machine learning to problems in the biomedical & health sciences

• Experience of end-to-end software tool/solution development and lifecycle management

• Knowledge of scientific data processing and algorithm development

• Overview knowledge of computer hardware & software, including: databases, programming & scripting languages, hardware & software architecture, OTS tools (e.g. for data analysis & visualisation)

• Broad understanding of clinical drug development & the pharmaceutical environment
