Apodi is a high performance outsourcing organisation that identifies and implements innovative access strategies in order to ensure that appropriate medicines get to patients.

In an exciting new project we are now recruiting for a Multiple Myeloma Patient Support Nurse to work on behalf of our client across the Thames Valley.

The purpose of this non-promotional role is to provide personalised support to patients who have been prescribed our clients product in order to improve outcomes by helping them to stay on their treatment course, where appropriate.

The support service is focussed on providing product related information and education and will integrate seamlessly with existing support provided by the NHS.

The patient support programme is available to patients who have been prescribed our clients product and have been referred onto the programme by the Multi-disciplinary team responsible for their care, once they have given their consent to take part. It is complementary to their existing Myeloma management plans.

The key role responsibilities are:-

1. Make scheduled outbound calls to patients which are linked to their treatment cycles

2. Provide inbound support as needed during the support centre opening times (9.00am – 5.00pm) if applicable

3. Provide education and product related information on our client’s product as a treatment for MM. Educate patients on the importance of early recognition and management of side effects

4. Assess individual patient requirements and customise the support programme for each patient e.g. Hospital, home or telephone support

5. Highlight to appropriate members of the NHS MDTs who are responsible for the patient’s care any signs, symptoms or other issues which could impact on treatment in accordance with all agreed protocols

6. Encourage patient to highlight issues directly to their nominated NHS contact when appropriate.

7. Facilitates patient interaction and discusses patient concerns and fears when required and as appropriate

8. Non-promotional Liaison with key workers and other HCP’s within specific centres specifically to ensure the smooth running of the programme in accordance with all protocols and agreements

9. Deliver excellence in all interactions with both patients and appropriate members of the MDT responsible for their care.

10. Deliver the programme in accordance with all applicable SOPs and Guidelines, in particular ensure full compliance with ABPI, Caldicott and CQC guidelines.

11. Gather Patient and HCP experience measures where appropriate and ensure Adverse Events are reported promptly and correctly in line with all protocols. Deliver feedback to our client and the NHS in the agreed formats and timelines

12. Update and manage the programme database to record all patient and key centre interactions

13. Liaise appropriately with our client’s resources, call centres and third party suppliers to ensure both the NHS and patients receives a seamless service

14. Ensure all information provided to our client is anonymised and aggregated so as to be compliant with all relevant laws

The successful candidate will have experience of working in the area of Oncology or Haematology. Experience of Multiple Myeloma would be highly advantageous.

You must have an ability to clinically assess relevant Multiple Myeloma patients as well as having experience in Phlebotomy.

The successful candidate will have an ability to educate both Healthcare professionals and patients alike.

You must also be a car driver who can organise their diary effectively.
